THE GEODES GUIDE

What exactly is a geode?

In addition to this, you will need to know more about it.

To put it simply, a geode is a rocky cavity lined with crystals and other mineral matter. This is not really considered as a mineral but rather as a composition of magmatic, crystalline and / or sedimentary formations. They are spread all over the planet and all have different shapes.

Geodes are magnificent pieces in great demand among mineral collectors because when opened they often reveal a unique treasure, the incredible arrangement of their internal crystals. In terms of size, they can range from the size of a pebble (a few hundred grams) to the size of a large boulder (several hundred kilos).

A question comes up all the same often, but how are geodes and their crystals formed? Well, it's not a very complicated formula, but the creation of a geode is especially very long and the crystals that develop inside it result from the process of precipitation, of passage (which is called also percolation) and condensation of hydrothermal fluids (hot underground water loaded with dissolved minerals).

Geodes are often composed of crystals that are part of the quartz family (Rock Crystal) but we can also find varieties of Amethyst, Celestine, Citrine, Calcite and other rare stones.

A geode is made up of two distinct parts, the outer part which resembles the rock of which it is mainly composed, which can sometimes be very hard or else relatively fragile and easily crumble. The interior part is covered with magnificent crystals which are also more or less fragile.

Where can we find geodes?

Geodes can be found all over the planet, there are deposits in many countries. Among the most famous we find, Madagascar, United States, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay. Even France has several deposits of Quartz and Amethyst geodes (admittedly much rarer to find than in some countries).

For Amethyst geodes, Uruguay and Brazil are undoubtedly the countries in which we find the most beautiful specimens.

Amethyst Geodes

Amethyst geodes are very well known in the world of Lithotherapy, this comes above all from the fact that Amethyst is a beneficial stone with multiple virtues which has a particularly magnificent purple color (and which differs according to the deposits).

Regarding its virtues, Amethyst has long been considered a stone of wisdom and humility. It promotes concentration, meditation and spiritual elevation. It is an extremely powerful and protective stone that converts energy into love. It is also very beneficial for the mind, calming or stimulating it as needed.

On the mental level, it helps to feel less dispersed, more focused, helps imagination and creativity, brings clarity of mind and serenity. This stone will also help you dispel anger, fear and anxiety, allow you to alleviate your grief and purify your aura.

Amethyst is also a very calming stone, which is why a stone or geode placed in your bedroom will ward off nightmares and insomnia.

Amethyst geodes are also particularly appreciated for their virtues of purification and recharging on other natural stones. (we will come back to this a little later in this guide)

How to use a geode?

In addition to this, you will need to know more about it.

Geodes have the particularity of amplifying the virtues and benefits of the crystals that compose them as well as of purifying and recharging other crystals, which is why they are so appreciated.

These stones with a unique and magnificent appearance are considered as real gifts to offer or to make to oneself because they are attributed the following benefits:

  • Protection of the home in which it is located

  • Harmonizes spaces and brings peace

  • Generates peace and calm

  • Turns negative energy into positive energy

  • Purifies and recharges other crystals

  • Has many virtues

How to purify and recharge my jewelry and / or natural stones?

It's very simple, you just have to place your stones and / or natural stone jewelry on the geode for 2 to 6 hours to purify and recharge them. Also know that recharging a stone is essential to be able to continue to benefit from all its virtues on a daily basis.

How to clean a geode?

In addition to this, you will need to know more about it.

Know first of all that a geode does not purify and recharge often because thanks to their virtues, they eliminate a lot of bad energies on their own. We recommend that you only do this once or twice a year.

Here is how to do it, however: Immerse it in lukewarm water with mild soap and use a toothbrush (very fine bristle if possible) to clean the small corners. It may seem easy, but be careful not to break and drop small crystals when cleaning it. Once the cleaning process is done, you can place your geode in the light of the moon to recharge it .
